Am I the only person who sees the irony in thirty or forty thousand people flying to the top of the planet to talk about how we should all cut our carbon emissions to save said planet? I know our delegation has pledged to "offset" the carbon they will emit by taking their flights but I don't have a clue what that means.
If it means "I'm going to plant a tree to absorb the carbon from my flight" won't that tree take 30 years to fucking grow? By which time it will be 50 feet under water if we are to believe the experts. Does it mean " I will pay a third world country some money because they haven't belched out as much carbon as we said they could" ??? This is nonsense. The net result is more CO2 either way isn't it? I don't believe them and I'm not sure they believe themselves.
If our elected
expense fraudsters politicians have the courage of their so-called convictions they should do something that makes a difference rather than just endlessly bleating on about it. I, like many others remain to be convinced about MMGW but until the government come up with viable alternatives what choice do any of us have but to use the electricity that comes into our homes and offices and run our cars on the energy that is cheapest and most readily available?
You're right and a lot of people think the same in this country
